Our Story

SkyDreamers Foundation was born out of a journey of courage, reinvention, and a belief that the sky should be accessible to everyone.

The Journey

Our founder, Lin (Ellen) Liu, began her career in a very different world: structured corporate life, MBA from MIT and Tsinghua, and a successful path in investment within the medical device industry.

But a quiet voice kept reminding her:

“You haven’t chased the sky yet.”

When she finally stepped into the cockpit for the first time, everything changed. Becoming a pilot as an adult, a woman, an immigrant, and a minority in a field where fewer than 5% of pilots are women was a challenge that demanded strength, resilience, and faith.

From late-night flights alone, to dragging aircraft out of the hangar by herself, to balancing training costs and the loneliness of being “the only woman,” Ellen realized that the journey to the sky can feel overwhelming—especially without representation or support.

SkyDreamers was created so that no woman and no child would have to walk that path alone again.
